About Us

Lore Marie Mirwaldt, Q.C.
Ms. Mirwaldt, Q.C. graduated with a LL.B. from University of Manitoba Law School in 1983. She articled at the Winnipeg firm of Breen & Breen and was called to the Bar of Manitoba in 1984. Upon being called to the Bar, she joined the firm of Premachuk, Knight & Associates in The Pas where she practiced family law and child protection law until 1986 when she left the firm to establish Mirwaldt & Gray. As a founding partner, Ms. Mirwaldt headed up the firm’s family litigation department. In 1992 she began acting as general legal counsel to Cree Nation Child and Family Caring Agency.  She no longer acts for this agency but does act for the NCN and the KSMA Child and Family Caring Agencies.

Ms. Mirwaldt also holds a Diploma from the Mediation and Arbitration Institute of Manitoba. In 1996 Ms. Mirwaldt was appointed a Queen’s Counsel for the Province of Manitoba in recognition of her ability and contribution to the practice of law. In 2002 she was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal in recognition of her advocacy on behalf of women and First Nations People. Ms. Mirwaldt has been active in the community acting as President of The Pas & District Chamber of Commerce, The Pas Committee for Women and Children in Crisis, Inc., The Pas Chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society and recently the Vice Chairperson of The Pas Health Complex Foundation Inc. Ms Mirwaldt has donated her time to various community organizations including Big Brothers/Big Sisters, to The Pas Cubs and Scouts and to the Executive of the Westminster United Church. Ms. Mirwaldt was appointed for a two-year term to the Board of Directors of Via Rail Canada in August 2005, proudly serving the people of Northern Manitoba.

In 2010, Ms. Mirwaldt was appointed as an Indian Residential School Adjudicator.

Scott Patrick Gray
Mr. Gray is a graduate of Weldon Hall Law School, Dalhousie University of Halifax, Nova Scotia. After graduating with an LL.B. in 1982, Mr. Gray articled with the Department of Public Prosecutions of Manitoba in Winnipeg. He was called to the Bar of the Province of Manitoba in 1983 and joined the firm of Perlov, Stewart. In 1984 he moved north to join the firm of Premachuk, Knight & Associates where he practiced criminal, real estate and corporate law. In 1986 Mr. Gray left the firm to co-found Mirwaldt & Gray with Lore Mirwaldt. As a founding partner, Mr. Gray acted as the managing partner of the firm and practiced criminal law, civil litigation, real estate, corporate law and began to practice labour law.

Mr. Gray possesses a Diploma from the Arbitration and Mediation Institute of Manitoba and for many years he was a provincial labour arbitrator. Currently, Mr. Gray acts as a federal labour adjudicator and arbitrator hearing cases throughout the Province. Mr. Gray is active in the community and has served on numerous community boards.  He was  the Chair of the Westminster (The Pas) United Church Council from 2006 to 2008. Mr. Gray was a Cub and Scout Leader and Big Brother. Active in sports, Mr. Gray has coached minor hockey and was a Level 3 official with Hockey Manitoba. Shortly before his retirement from refereeing hockey, he was recently awarded the Vic Lindquist Memorial Award as the Most Deserving Official in Northern Manitoba, earning the award for a second time in his career.

In 2010, Mr. Gray was also appointed as an Indian Residential School Adjudicator.

Judy McKay
Ms. McKay is a paralegal with over 25 years experience. She is a member of the Opaskwayak Cree Nation and is currently the office manager of the firm. Ms. McKay is experienced in real estate transactions, civil litigation and wills and estates.


Colleen Mirwaldt
Ms. Mirwaldt is a paralegal who worked at our firm in the early 1990’s. She then married (Lore’s brother Tom) and left the firm to raise her family. She returned to our firm in June 2005. Colleen provides litigation support to our firm.
